Tips to Get Your Photo Works Accepted/ Approved Shutterstock

Interested in selling photos on Shutterstock? Previously you need to know the following things so that your photos are accepted by Shutterstock. Because after uploading photos to the website, there will be a photo inspection process from Shutterstock for 3-4 days, will your photos be directly displayed on the website or get feedback?

Here are 6 tips so that your photos can be accepted without any feedback:
1. Remove Logo or Brand

One of the mistakes that Shutterstock users often make is uploading photos that contain a logo or brand. For example, photos of buildings in urban areas, each building must have the name of the building or billboard attached to the building.

Now to anticipate, you can edit the photo first before uploading it to Shutterstock, you can use various photo editing applications, such as Adobe Photoshop or other editing applications.

But if there are many logos or brands in the photo (it is impossible to remove), you can choose to be used as an editorial photo. What is an editorial photo? Will be discussed in point number 2 (next point).
2. Photo Editor

If you have trouble removing the logo or brand on the photo that you are about to update, you can upload it using the editorial method. But photo editorial is different from commercial photo content, your photos cannot be used for business purposes, and can only be used as current news. If you are diligent in taking pictures and uploading them right away, your photos will definitely sell because the time is more actual.

When uploading editorial type photos, don't forget to include 5W+1H (where, when, what, who, and why) in the photo description. Then make sure you have selected the “Editorial” usage mode.

Editorial photos are easier for shutterstock to accept, but commercial photos sell more than editorial photos.
3. Avoid Noise

Shutterstock cannot accept a photo that contains an element of noise. Noise is a term in photography to refer to the dots in the photo so that the photo looks not smooth.

Here's an example of noise in a photo:
In this case, you must be good at adjusting the ISO on the camera you are using. With less lighting, you have to know what the correct ISO is. But if there is still noise, you can use a photo editing application to remove it. For example Noise Ninja, Noiseware, or NDNoise.
4. Object Focus

The term focus in photography is a term related to how a photographer places an object in his photo, so that the eye of the viewer will immediately focus on the object.

The goal is to make it easier for the viewer to find the essence of a photo and the idea the camera holder wants to convey.

Well, some photos cannot be accepted by Shutterstock if the photo is not clear where the focal point of the object is. So when taking photos, make one point as the main object and another object as a complement.

Here's an example of a photo that focuses on one object:

5. Photo Size

Before uploading photos to Shutterstock, pay attention to the size of the photo you are going to upload. Because photos with a size below 4 Megapixel will not be accepted by Shutterstock (upload failed). Also make sure your photos are of high quality so they don't break when zoomed in.
6. Photo Description

After uploading the photo to Shutterstock, you must fill in the details of the photo.

Fill in the description of the photo at least 5 words and a maximum of 200 characters. The photo description contains an overview of the photo you uploaded and must use Indonesian. And don't forget, the photo description in “editorial” mode must contain 5W1H (where, when, what, who how, and why).
Choose categories 1 and 2 according to the photos you uploaded. There are many photo categories that you can use, for example abstract, art, people, and others.
    Enter the photo location.
Continue down the menu there is Release (Release Model and Release Properties). You must include a release file if there is a human model in your photo or a release property file if your photo contains a building or interior design or painting and other artwork.
And finally, enter the photo keywords so that your photos are easy to find. Shutterstock has provided several keywords that are relevant to your photos. Or you can also do your own keyword research through the “Keyword Tool” menu.
